A small lighting retailer cannot use extension cords in their commercial building per fire marshal order, but many of their fixtures and devices (including computers) have cords that don't reach outlets.

The only current solution (extension cords) is explicitly banned, and there is no alternative mentioned for powering equipment or devices that are far from outlets.
